In brief, a copywriter creates written content for advertising or promotional purposes. The aim is to engage, inform and sell. This could be your website copy, your product descriptions, emails and blog posts.

Anyone can write words on a page. A copywriter however, is skilled ar telling your story and helping your clients or customers to see wht they should choose to work with you.

A copywriter’s aim is to sell or market products and/or services. A content writer will create blog posts, social media captions and website content aimed at utilising SEO and building connections with the reader. Content writing helps cement you as a knowledgeable industry leader and engages your audience.

A copywriter can help you build your brand messaging to resonate with your client or customers.

They can help you create content that will build your authority with search engines such as Google or Bing. Most business owners will have the best intentions and know what they want to say, but may struggle to articulate this succinctly. That’s where I come in. A copywriter and content writer can make sure your content is easy to understand and engaging, all with an identifiable tone. They can provide you with regular content with the keywords you need to rank in Search Engine Result Pages (SERPs) and guide your reader to a Call to Action (CTA).

My writing is clear, concise, and authentic. My focus is on informative, trustworthy and educational content. This is an important ethos of my business to support small businesses to connect with their customers.

Absolutely! If a business regularly adds blog posts to its website, then you build a content bank of relevant and authorative information for your industry. This builds your credibility, something which Google and other search engines, will reward you for as SEO best practice.

I primarily work with small businesses and creatives. However, I have a range of clients in other industries including pet care and welfare, academia, retail, finance, and coaching.

I’m only human so there is a liklihood that I probably don’t know anything about your industry at all. However, as a copywriter and content writer – I usually don’t need to.

I have over fifteen years experience working in academia and career-adjacently as a web designer/developer. I am well-versed in researching topics, speaking to subject matter experts so I can uncover the information I need to write great content.

If I was too much of an expert, I wouldn’t be able to write from the perspective of the reader. It’s why I excel at copywriting, and why content managers and business owners hire me as I can turn a tricky subject into an interesting read that will be accessible to all.

I always take a transparent approach to client discovery calls, so if I feel I’m not the right fit then I’ll tell you straight away.

Business FAQs

I usually charge by the project, not by the hour or word count. As you’ll probably appreciate, no two projects are the same. Booking in for a discovery call is a great first step for us to dive deeper into your project, where we can discuss budget and expectations.

All project quotes are based on a number of factors, such as: number of words to be written, time required for planning, research and creativity, number of meetings and review/editing rounds, and complexity of the topic.

Why not take a look at my project pricing guide to give you an idea of cost by project type.

I do ask for a deposit of 50% for new clients and/or large projects.

For new clients or large projects, I charge a 50% deposit  upfront.

The remainder of the project fee is due at the end of the project.

If you want to cancel our agreement, that’s not a problem, but I will charge you for any work already carried out, including any desktop research, and for any expenses incurred.

I reserve the right to display all aspects of my creative work in my portfolio and on my website unless I have signed an NDA. Here’s a link to my complete Terms and Conditions.

Yes. I’m so confident that you’ll love my work that I offer a 100% money back guarantee if you are unsatisifed with the quality of work received.

Please note that by requesting a full refund, you forfeit all rights to the content you have purchased. I reserve the full right to resell the content or use it at my own discretion.

I reserve the right to deny service to clients who repeatedly ask for refunds or constantly request highly demanding revisions. This will be done at my own discretion, and I am under no obligation to specify reasons. I ask that you kindly use my refund policy as a last resort.

You can pay me by bank transfer or via PayPal.

You, are the exclusive copyright the moment you have paid for the final project fee.

I may use some of your documents as samples to prove to prospective clients what a great content writer I am, but the content of these documents will not be used for commercial purposes.

In the case of a non-disclosure agreement, I won’t use your documents as samples.

If I haven’t started your project – then no problem!

Small and reasonable edits can be accommodated in the original brief, but Iif you are significantly extending your brief, I will need to requote the expected timescale and cost.

If you need to cancel the work once I have started, then I will need to bill for time and expenses incurred.

This will depend on the project complexity. During a discovery call I will outline my current availability and turnaround times. One-off projects can be completed to first-draft state within 48-72 hours. Longer and more complex projects will understandably have longer timescales attached.

If you require urgent copywriting or have a tight deadline, please get in touch. I can often move things around and make it possible.

I’m a UK copywriter, located on the west coast of Scotland. However, I usually only work remotely to ensure I am the most cost-effective and efficient with my time.

All communication can be done via email, Zoom or WhatsApp. This keeps my pricing affordable and can focus on research and writing time – rather than on meetings and travel time.
